Poorly-fitting dentures can be very ageing – and they can also have a negative impact on your quality of life. It’s impossible to smile, talk or eat with confidence when you’re worried that your dentures will slip or fall out. You might feel self-conscious because you’re showing too much or too little of your teeth for your dentures to look natural. You might suffer pain because they rub or chafe. If you’re unable to chew your food properly, mealtimes will be a pain rather than a pleasure – and your digestion and overall health could suffer.
At Haoey Dental we can create new, well-fitting dentures that complement your face and that you can trust not slip or rub. We have over 25 years’ experience in helping our patients to feel more confident and comfortable – and to look their best.
Full dentures replace all of your natural teeth in your upper or lower jaw or both. Extremely natural-looking plastic or porcelain teeth are attached to a plastic base that is coloured to match your gums. A well-fitting denture stays in place by forming a seal with the gums. It gives you a younger and healthier appearance by filling out your lips and cheeks and providing some support for your facial structure.
Partial dentures replace one or more lost or missing teeth and keep other teeth in position. The plastic base or metal framework that supports the replacement teeth is held in place by clasps and rests that fit around the natural teeth on either side. A metal framework is generally used to give permanent dentures strength and rigidity. A plastic base is more commonly used for emergency or temporary replacements of missing teeth.
These are a popular alternative to both full and partial dentures. Implant-supported dentures look totally natural and provide complete security – you can bite into an apple or chew a crusty bread roll just as you did when you had your natural teeth. You can also remove them for thorough cleaning to boost your confidence even further.
